Director / Structural Engineer

Mika is a chartered structural engineer with 10 years experience across a variety of residential, commercial and industrial projects of all size and scale. He started Soma to focus on the projects he enjoys most - working in a small design team, helping to craft architecturally-driven homes and developments.

Soma Structures is a boutique structural engineering practice focused on residential architecture — from architecturally designed homes to renovations and multi-unit housing developments.

Based in Devonport, Auckland, we provide hands-on engineering services across the upper North Island.

Thoughtful Engineering

We approach each project with thoughtful engineering that enhances the architecture and supports the design intent. By collaborating closely with architects, designers, and builders, we create structural solutions that are practical, efficient, and tailored to the unique challenges of each project.

Hands-On Service

As a small practice, every project is personally managed by one senior engineer from concept through construction. This direct involvement ensures clear communication, responsive problem-solving, and a truly personalised service.
